BIOGRAPHY
Austyn Johnson is an actress, dancer, and singer whose early career featured standout performances across film, television, and Broadway. She began on stage as Amanda Thripp in Matilda the Musical, joining the Broadway cast after portraying the role on the show’s national tour.
Austyn made her feature film debut portraying Caroline Barnum, the daughter of Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams, in The Greatest Showman. The role showcased her versatility as a performer, including a solo dance en pointe and a vocal feature on the Grammy Award–winning soundtrack with “A Million Dreams (Reprise).” Shortly after, she starred as Marina Bradlee, daughter of Tom Hanks and Sarah Paulson, in Steven Spielberg’s Academy Award–nominated film The Post.
Her television debut came on the CBS comedy Kevin Can Wait, where she played Jill, a spunky football fan in Season 2. She went on to portray Maybelle in The Blacklist and appeared as Erzsebet Foldi in the FX miniseries Fosse/Verdon, where she shared a dance scene with the show’s executive producer, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Her scene takes place in a rehearsal studio, with Bob Fosse (Sam Rockwell) staging a moment where Gideon (Miranda) dances tenderly with his young daughter (Johnson).
Austyn went on to star alongside Mira Sorvino and Peter Coyote in The Girl Who Believes in Miracles and portrayed Young Shannan, the younger version of Amy Ryan’s character, in the Netflix film Lost Girls.
With a foundation in dance and musical theater, Austyn brings a deep connection between movement, music, and emotion to her on-screen work. Now continuing her education while pursuing new opportunities in film and performance, she approaches every role with authenticity, versatility, and a lifelong love for the arts.
